Udzungwa National Park is nested on the Eastern Arc Mountains stretching from Same Pare Mountain through Tanga to Morogoro. this archipelago of isolated massifs has been announced as African Galapagos for its treasure trove of endemic plants and animals, most familiarly the delicate African violet.
Safaris to the park are done on foot, which means hiking and trekking. Birdlife and some plant family that found nowhere else in the world have been recorded. There is no inbuilt accommodation in the park but most safaris are based on camping accommodation.
