Borana Ranch, is 35,000 acres of beautiful and varied land situated on the Northern slopes of Mount Kenya, 16 miles from the equator and adjacent to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. A stay at Borana, which is family owned and run, will give you an insight into the workings of the ranch, including all the projects which involve the neighbouring communities. The area is home to rare and endangered species including black and white rhino, wild dog and reticulated giraffe. From your room you will see elephant, great herds of buffalo and zebra – and the birdlife is spectacular, with over 300 species having been recorded.
One of the best ways of seeing the ranch is on horseback and rides are encouraged for all standards, it really is the best way of seeing game and should not be missed.
Note: Borana is closed in April and November.
